EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A couple of thrillers and an offbeat rom-com are landing at Micon Cinemas this week.
First up this week is “Christmas At The Kringles.” A couple (Ron Livingston, Rachel Bilson) has just moved in, and their neighbors are pretty unique. The uber-festive Kringles celebrate Christmas all year and are intense about it. Things pretty quickly run off the rails when the Seversons are invited over for the December holiday. The action horror movie also stars Thomas Lennon (“Reno 911″), Rob Riggle, Donald Faison (“Scrubs”), and Beverly D’Angelo. Rated R, “Christmas At The Kringles” is playing in Chippewa Falls and at the Oakwood Mall.
Also out this week is “The Mongoose,” starring Liam Neeson. Wanted for murder but having acted in self-defense, Neeson’s character is on the run from the law. But the law? It’s in hot pursuit. The thriller also stars Marisa Tomei (“Spider-Man” franchise). Rated R, “The Mongoose” is screening in Chippewa Falls and at Micon Oakwood Mall.
Offbeat rom-com “Wicker” is hitting Micon Cinemas this week. It stars Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman as a fisherwoman who’s looking for love. She finds it in a husband made of wicker and played by Alexander Skarsgård. The fantasy film also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Peter Dinklage, and Richard E. Grant. Rated R, “Wicker” is playing exclusively at Micon Eau Claire.
Meta slasher classic “Scream” is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The horror movie is coming back to theaters – Micon Oakwood Mall, to be exact – to celebrate.
The Silver Screen Senior Series wraps up this week with “Rio Bravo,” screening Tuesday at the Oakwood Mall. The 1959 western stars John Wayne. Tickets are just $2.
And it’s Halloween weekend, which means the horror classic series also comes to an end this week. John Carpenter’s “The Thing” is playing Friday and Saturday at the mall. Tickets for these showtimes are $5.
