Swiss indie Cavasino Watches has announced the final two watches in its Tourbillon Inaugural collection.
The launches complete the full run of 50 DCR-01 movements and is said to draw a definitive close to the founding chapter of the brand.
The two new models – one in rose gold, one in stainless steel – join an inaugural collection built entirely around the DCR-01, the first movement Cavasino ever produced.
Each movement requires more than 500 hours of work, the majority spent on hand-finishing, and features a white gold micro-rotor (watchmaking’s current hyperfixation) in the brand’s signature cherry purple finish.
There will be exactly 50 movements in total, and with these final two references, every one is now allocated.
The rose gold edition is limited to just eight pieces, priced at 95,000 CHF. It takes a warmer, more sensual approach to the case – softer in presence but no less mechanical in character.
The stainless steel edition is limited to five pieces at 88,500 CHF, and offers a more architectural interpretation of the same design: sharper contrasts, a sportier feel and a pronounced sense of structural rigidity.
Both watches share the same three-bridge movement architecture, hand-bevelling, circular graining and black polishing – impressive levels of finishing that are quickly becoming signature of the brand.
Eponymous founder Didier Cavasino, a graduate of the École des Arts et Métiers whose fascination with tourbillons began at a Paris collectors’ dinner in 2001, has described the DCR-01 not as a production movement but as a manifesto – a founding statement of intent for the brand.
