Soudal Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team

The Belgian took his first medal in the U23 ranks.

Jasper Schoofs delivered Soudal Quick-Step Devo’s 12th top three result of the season at the U23 ITT National Championships, which took place in Maarkedal, over 28.5 kilometers. The biggest hurdle of the day came in the form of a 1.1km climb that the riders had to tackle two times, once right after the start and then again at the beginning of the second lap.

Third on the last stage of the Volta Comunitat Valenciana and sixth in Paris-Roubaix Espoirs this season, Jasper was one of the last riders to roll down the ramp, and he managed to put together a strong time trial, as one of the few riders to average over 45km/h. The 20-year-old stopped the clock in 33:55, securing the silver medal at the end of the day that also saw teammate Gauthier Servranckx conclude eighth.

“It was a beautiful day on the bike. I rode a strong time trial and gave everything I had. I was aiming for a good result this afternoon, so to be runner-up here is something that makes me happy and gives a lot of confidence for my next races with the team”, Jasper said after his second podium of the season.
