Unveiled during the LVMH Watch Week 2026, this new creation by Daniel Roth quickly drew attention. Since its revival orchestrated by La Fabrique du Temps (LFDT), the brand has been meticulously and faithfully reinterpreting its archives. However, this piece marks a deliberate shift.
Without immediately revealing its secrets, it intrigues with its slim profile, full openness, and aesthetic mastery. As the third model in the LFDT era—after the tourbillon and the classic Extra Plat—this novelty offers a radically contemporary take on Roth’s heritage while paying tribute to traditional watchmaking craftsmanship.
A design mastered down to the detail
The case retains the classic proportions of the Extra Plat line: 35.5 mm wide, 38.6 mm high, and a modest 6.9 mm thick. The double ellipse silhouette, a signature of Daniel Roth, is entirely in polished rose gold, with lugs integrated into the case design. Both front and back are protected by anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

The calfskin leather strap comes with a rose gold pin buckle, enhancing the overall elegance. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, a symbolic rather than practical feature.
A transparent window into mechanics
This skeletonized version pushes minimalism to its limits. No superfluous displays, no decorative elements—the space is dedicated to light, volume, and finishing. LFDT has cut into the material to showcase the movement while maintaining rigidity and readability.

The interplay of shadows, transparency, and reflections evokes creations by Vacheron Constantin or collector pieces from independent watchmakers. Unlike Roth’s historical models, which were often partially skeletonized, this watch opts for complete transparency.
A minor disappointment for collectors: the traditional “Number XX” engraving on the dial side is gone. A logical choice, but one that breaks with a long-standing house tradition.
A high-level movement
The DR002SR caliber, designed and decorated by La Fabrique du Temps, is a variant of the earlier DR002. It’s manual-winding, operates at 4 Hz, and offers a 65-hour power reserve. While it only features hour and minute functions, the movement’s architecture and finishing elevate it to another level.

Collectors will appreciate the sharp internal angles, a hallmark of true hand-finishing, along with black polish and perfect beveling. Each bridge and component is designed to catch and reflect light, creating rare visual depth for such a thin watch.
This caliber doesn’t aim to impress with complexity, but rather with the virtuosity of its execution.
Price and exclusivity: a piece for connoisseurs
Now available, this watch joins Daniel Roth’s permanent collection, following the Yellow Gold Subscription Edition and the standard Extra Plat Rose Gold. Access, however, will remain exclusive: 85,000 CHF, or nearly 90,000 euros depending on the exchange rate.
Although not numbered, this limited production piece will be distributed sparingly. At this price point, it targets a knowledgeable audience, attuned to the codes of ultra-exclusive contemporary watchmaking.
