Laurent Ferrier: Classic Moon Dusk in Yellow Gold

Floating directly above this obsidian backdrop is an anise-yellow plique-à-jour enamel bridge. This traditional technique requires considerable patience: the artisan fills an open metal framework with translucent enamel without using a solid metal backing, allowing ambient light to shine through the openings. The transparency makes the bridge appear almost weightless, as if it were hovering directly above the moon disk.

“N” and “S” indicators flank the display, acknowledging that lunar phases appear inverted depending on the viewer’s hemisphere. Finally, a slender, white-painted gold baton hand runs over the subdial to track the seconds.

Precision Mechanics

Beating inside the watch is the hand-wound Caliber LF126.02, an in-house movement that automatically distinguishes between months with 30 and 31 days. The calendar requires just one manual correction each year, on March 1, to account for the shorter length of February.

The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and stores an 80-hour power reserve within its barrel. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the 266-component caliber, complete with a discreet power reserve indicator, rhodium-plated Geneva stripes, circular graining, and hand-polished interior angles.
