Microsoft may add a PlayStation Platinum Trophy equivalent to Xbox called “Mythic,” which will be awarded for completing all other challenges in a game.
The Xbox achievement system has for many years been built around increasing Gamerscore. Earning all points in a game brought satisfaction, but there was no separate reward comparable to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy.
According to rumors, Microsoft is going to fix this by adding a “Mythic” achievement. It will likely be awarded for completing all other challenges provided in a specific game. Microsoft has not yet confirmed either the name or the principles of how the system works, so the information should be considered unofficial.
Such a distinction could further motivate players to collect all achievements and make the completion of a long hunt more meaningful. It remains unknown whether the new reward will apply to older games. If the rumor is confirmed, Xbox achievement collectors will get something more noticeable than another 1000 Gamerscore points.
