World silver medalist reflects on season after ending with new 1500m personal best

Behind Ewoi was Australia’s Jessica Hull, who completed the podium in 3:54.73, while Great Britain’s Georgia Hunter Bell finished fourth in 3:56.40.

Speaking after the race, Ewoi spoke of the challenging race, and how her 2026 season had shaped up.

“Everybody could have won today, because the field was so tight,” she said of the final. “All of the athletes in the race have run between 3.54 and 3.57, and that made it impossible to run in one straight line.”

Ewoi’s new personal best came just two weeks after she had posted her best run in 2026, when she took third at the Silesia Diamond League in a time of 3:55.58 on Sunday, 23 August.

Before that, she had finished second in the mile at the Prefontaine Classic, and had two sub-4 minute showings at Xiamen and Keqiao in May.

On how her full season had shaped up, Ewoi said: “This season has been great for me because it´s the first year that I got to run the full Diamond League. I felt super good tonight and I ran a tiny PB. I´m really happy with that.

It´s fantastic to do this as an athlete and I´m really grateful for that.”
