Bitway (BTW) Falls 8% From Its Record as Rally Cools

Bitway’s BTW is trading near $2.22 to $2.24 on Monday. The token is up roughly 30% over seven days and about 269% over a month and on 14 October it set a record near $2.75. Bitway has emerged as one of the strongest-performing cryptocurrencies over the past three months. The token gained a reported 2,993.3% in 90 days, placing it at the top of the top 50 cryptocurrencies by performance in the supplied ranking.

The rally comes as investors show interest in projects connecting Bitcoin with decentralized finance (DeFi). Bitway is building financial products around Bitcoin and operates a Bitcoin-compatible blockchain designed to support lending and other on-chain applications.

BTW began trading on March 2, 2026. Since then, its price performance has drawn attention to the project’s broader ecosystem, including its Bitway Earn platform and Bitcoin-focused infrastructure.

However, a sharp price increase does not guarantee further gains. Token supply, market liquidity and the project’s ability to attract sustained use will remain important factors for BTW holders.

What Bitway Does and What BTW Is For

Bitway describes itself as onchain strategy infrastructure, a layer built to connect onchain liquidity to managed strategies across traditional finance and DeFi, a blend it brands DeTradFi. BTW is the utility and governance token. Holders stake it to reach products, to boost rewards and to cut fees, and use it for votes. It trades as a BEP20 token on BNB Smart Chain and as an ERC20 token on Ethereum.

The product tied most closely to the token is Bitway Earn, where users deposit stablecoins into audited vaults on BNB Chain that run what the project calls institutional-grade strategies. It supports USDT, U and USD1, and two strategies run under it: Bitway Absolute Return and Bitway Core Alpha. Each comes with staking, unstaking and receipt-token contracts.

One line in Bitway’s own FAQ is worth reading before you deposit anything. Stablecoins placed into Earn are moved to a custodian, such as a centralised exchange account, so the strategy can run, and the protocol says it can pause withdrawals in extreme conditions. That is the project’s own account of where the money sits between deposit and redemption.

The Record Came on 14 October

BTW set its all-time high on 14 October at about $2.75. Trackers put the exact peak between $2.75 and $2.78, a few cents apart, which is the usual gap between how sites record an intraday high.

The run into that peak was fast enough to put BTW at the top of the three-month leaderboard. Tracker figures for the token over that window sit in the thousands of percent, though the exact number depends on the site: one three-month reading is near 2,993% and another is above 3,380%. Over 30 days, two sites agree closely on about 269%.

Token Unlocks Could Affect Future Price Action

One factor investors should monitor is BTW’s token supply.

Bitway has a maximum supply of 10 billion BTW. Tokenomics.com lists a vesting schedule running from March 2026 to March 2030, with tokens released through multiple scheduled unlocks.

The next listed unlock is scheduled for November 2, 2026. The tracker estimates that approximately 101.6 million BTW will be released, equal to 1% of the maximum supply.

Token unlocks do not automatically lead to selling. However, they increase the number of tokens that may become available to holders, and the price impact can depend on whether recipients sell, hold or use their tokens.

After a rally of this scale, investors may pay particular attention to changes in circulating supply, trading volume and liquidity. These factors can help show whether market demand is keeping pace with the tokens available for trading.

Shorts Have Been Paying

The derivatives side tells a clearer story than the spot market. Funding on BTW perpetuals, the periodic payment between longs and shorts, has been slightly negative, which means shorts pay to keep their positions open. Liquidations have leaned heavily to the short side: tracker tallies put shorts at the bulk of a few million dollars in forced closes. The exact totals differ by source and window, and one tracker’s own page showed under $700,000 liquidated over the same period.

Open interest, the value of outstanding derivatives contracts, has been reported in the hundreds of millions of dollars, again varying by venue and time. Perpetual volume outweighs spot, which is normal for a token that trades more easily as a contract than as a coin.

Crypto trader Crypto__Haris disclosed a $100,000 short position, predicting that the token could fall by 60% to 80% after its reported rally of roughly 5,000%.

But betting against the rally has proved costly for some traders. CoinGlass data showed about $2.9 million in short liquidations, compared with $543,000 in liquidations of long positions. Short liquidations occur when exchanges forcibly close bearish positions after losses or margin requirements reach a set threshold.

The figures suggest that traders betting on a price decline have faced greater liquidation pressure than bullish traders during the period measured.

Where BTW Actually Trades

Spot liquidity is spread thin. Price pages list around 16 spot pairs, led by a BTW/USDT market on Gate, followed by listings on Bitget and MEXC and a Uniswap V3 pool on BNB Chain. No single venue carries deep spot volume.

From here, three things decide the next move. The 2 November unlock is the first scheduled test of supply. Funding staying negative would show traders still leaning short after the run. And the float question is unresolved: a company or explorer figure would settle whether BTW’s market cap is closer to $3.4 billion or $6.5 billion.

What Should Investors Watch Next?

BTW’s next phase will depend on more than its recent percentage gain.

Investors can monitor activity across Bitway’s financial products, developments in its Bitcoin-compatible infrastructure, and changes in token liquidity. The project’s ability to attract sustained use will matter more over time than a short period of price momentum.

The upcoming token unlock is another date worth watching. If additional supply enters the market while demand weakens, the token could face pressure. If demand remains strong, the market may absorb the new supply more easily.

The reported 2,993.3% 90-day gain makes Bitway a notable market performer. But past returns do not predict future performance, and sharp rallies can reverse quickly.

For now, BTW stands out for its recent price performance and Bitcoin-focused financial products. Whether it can maintain that position will depend on continued market demand, token supply dynamics and the progress of its ecosystem.
