A financial planning firm is celebrating a milestone first year after growing to a seven-strong team and securing national award recognition.
Haslemere-based Squirrel Financial Planning was launched by managing director Rachel Lane with the aim of making independent financial advice more accessible, transparent and personal.
Originally envisaged as a one-person operation, the business now employs seven people and supports more than 170 households with a range of financial planning needs.
Its first anniversary comes as Rachel has been shortlisted for Financial Adviser of the Year – South East at the Women in Financial Advice Awards, which recognise female professionals across the UK sector.
Squirrel has also invested in professional qualifications, industry examinations and career progression as it continues to build its team, while strengthening its environmental and community commitments through Green Mark Level 1 accreditation and support for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Rachel said: “Celebrating our first year in business is a milestone I’m incredibly grateful for.
“What started as a vision to provide honest, approachable and truly personal financial advice has grown into a business built on trust, relationships and the support of some wonderful clients.
“This year has brought more than I ever expected.
“We’ve grown our team, had the privilege of helping more individuals and families with their financial planning, and I’ve been honoured to be shortlisted for the Women in Financial Advice Awards 2026.
“While these achievements are meaningful, what I’m most proud of is the team we’ve built.
“Their dedication, professionalism and genuine care for our clients are reflected in everything we do, and they have played a huge part in making our first year such a positive one.”
