The Bertie Martin Regional Jail is in the process of deep cleaning but before that can occur, personal property has to be secured, according to Jail Board Chair Vivian Saunders.
The personal property included damaged monitors and cameras, files, etc, Saunders said.
Saunders said that the detention officers were “excited” to come in and get back to cleaning the space.
The workers were shown what to do in order to open the facility.
According to Saunders, Contractors will be brought in to assess damages to doors and locks.
