A bomb disposal team has safely detonated an old artillery shell.
The shell was found at a property in Narberth on Thursday, September 3, prompting a police response and the arrival of specialist officers, including an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.
A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of an old artillery shell at a property in Narberth on Thursday, Sept 3.
“The shell was retrieved by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, who then carried out a detonation in a safe location.”
Residents reported seeing a police presence in the area overnight, with some observing what appeared to be a bomb disposal team arriving at the scene.
The incident caused concern in the community until police confirmed the nature of the operation.
The artillery shell was safely removed from the property and taken to a secure site where it was detonated by the EOD team.
Police have not released further details about the age or type of the shell, nor how it came to be at the property or the circumstances of its discovery.
No injuries were reported, and officers have not indicated that there was any ongoing risk to the public.
