SCO Symposium on Financing Infrastructure Projects in Central Asia


On 9-10 October 2026 the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Symposium on Financing Infrastructure Projects in Central Asia took place in Mumbai, Republic of India. The event was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL).

The Symposium was attended by representatives of the member banks of the SCO Interbank Consortium, major investment, financial, infrastructure and technology companies from the SCO Member States, as well as representatives of the academic and educational community. Welcome remarks were delivered by Governor of the Indian State of Bihar Syed Ata Hasnain, Additional Secretary and National Coordinator of India for SCO Affairs Alok Dimri, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda, FICCI President Sunil Sangai, and IIFCL Managing Director Rohit Rishi.

Through the six sessions, the participants held detailed discussions on issues related to financing infrastructure in the fields of transport, healthcare, tourism, agriculture and other sectors in the Central Asian states.

The Symposium also featured the inaugural meeting of the SCO Asia Economic Dialogue, initiated by the Indian side.
