A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a property in West Sussex.
Emergency services were called to a property in Langley Grove, Aldwick, at around 2pm to what Sussex Police described as “reports of concern for the welfare of a woman”.
The police statement said: “On arrival, an 84-year-old woman was sadly found deceased. Her next of kin have been informed.

“A 78-year-old man from Aldwick was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, and remains in custody at this time.”

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell said: “This is a tragic loss of life and specialist detectives are working hard to understand the full circumstances of the situation.

“Officers swiftly detained a suspect, and at this point we are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.
“There will be a police presence at the property in Langley Grove over the coming days as we gather any evidence, and I ask neighbouring residents for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.
