NAB forecasts Australia only one-third through residential housing downturn, months more pain to come


National Australia Bank says house prices could keep falling for more than six months as investors assess changes to tax concessions made by the federal government and three interest rate rises this year.

The bank’s economists said the downturn was about one-third through, having already declined by about 3 per cent this year. Residential real estate values have slumped even further in Sydney and Melbourne.
