NAI Burns Scalo acquiring Southwest Florida commercial real estate developer

A leading property development company in Florida is growing its presence by buying another development firm in Southwest Florida.

NAI Burns Scalo said this month that it has completed a deal to acquire Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida, a real estate developer based in Fort Myers. Brian Walker, President of NAI, led the negotiations. As a result, Cushman & Walker will become part of the NAI brand.

“Florida represents a key market in our strategic national growth, and this expansion reflects the strength of our fully integrated platform,” said Walker.

“By combining a strong local presence with our experience as investors and developers, we are well-positioned to pursue new opportunities through both ground-up development and the acquisition of existing assets, while bringing capital and a long-term ownership perspective to the market.”

As Cushman & Walker is acquired, key staff from the company will join NAI. Gary Tasman, who founded Cushman & Walker, will stay involved after the deal and will focus on building client relationships and growing the business in the region.

“This partnership represents an exciting new chapter for our company, our clients, and the Southwest Florida market,” Tasman said. “By aligning with NAI Burns Scalo and the broader NAI platform, we are combining deep local market expertise with expanded capital, development, and investment capabilities that enhance how we serve our clients.”

By acquiring Cushman & Walker, NAI is growing its presence on the Gulf Coast. The company opened a Tampa office in March 2025 and has also hired real estate leader Tim Rivers to lead NAI’s expansion across Florida.

“NAI Burns Scalo provides an enhanced platform characterized by greater integration, diversification, and connectivity, along with a broader suite of services not previously available in the Southwest Florida market,” said Rivers, who is the Executive Managing Director-Florida at NAI Burns Scalo.
