West Lothian train passengers warned as blaze at property triggers delays


West Lothian train passengers have been warned of delays following a blaze at a property on Monday evening. The incident took place around 5.40pm on April 27 between Shotts and Fauldhouse.

A fire erupted at a property near to the line. Trains running between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.

All lines are currently blocked.

A statement from National Rail reads: “There is a fire on a property near the railway between #Shotts and Fauldhouse, resulting in all lines being blocked.

“Trains running between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.”

A statement online reads: “This is expected to cause disruption until 19:00.

“If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.

“Scottish Fire and Rescue are on site dealing with the fire. They have taken a blockage of the railway to fight the fire.

“You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.”
