A Lafayette teen has been arrested after a woman was shot during a meeting to sale personal property.
Alvin James Harris, 18, of Lafayette, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the incident.
According to Lafayette Police Department, officers responded Tuesday at 4:48 p.m. to a local hospital in reference to a female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers later determined the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Mercer Lane in Lafayette.
The female victim and her boyfriend were attempting to sell an item of property to the suspect at this location. During the exchange of personal property for monetary funds, the suspect ultimately brandished a firearm and discharged at the victim and her boyfriend. As a result of the suspect’s actions, the female victim was hit by the gunfire.
Officers later identified the suspect as Harris. He was apprehended in the 300 block of North Buchanan Street by LPD’s TNT and SWAT teams.
The female victim was listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
