New Delhi, Delhi, India, July 2026 — August Energy has announced the appointment of Shyam Sharma as Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO), based in New Delhi, to strengthen its senior leadership team and support the company’s growth as an institutional Energy as a Service (EaaS) infrastructure platform across India and Southeast Asia.
Announcing the appointment, the company said Shyam brings more than 28 years of finance leadership experience, including 17 years in renewable energy and infrastructure platforms spanning solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects. A qualified Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, and Cost Accountant, he has extensive expertise in project finance, capital structuring, treasury, corporate governance, and investor relations.
In his new role, Shyam will lead August Energy’s financial strategy, capital management, governance, investor engagement, and financial operations as the company expands its presence across India and Southeast Asia while supporting customers in their energy transition journey.
Prior to joining August Energy, Shyam served as Chief Financial Officer at O2 Power Private Limited, where he played a pivotal role in scaling the renewable energy platform and supporting more than US$1.2 billion in financing initiatives. He was instrumental in the company’s US$1.47 billion strategic transaction and private equity exit to JSW Energy, while helping scale the platform to 6 GW across solar, wind, and hybrid renewable assets. During his tenure, he also led the raising of over ₹10,000 crore in long-term project debt and more than US$500 million in corporate financing facilities, while strengthening governance, capital allocation, investor relations, and board engagement.
Earlier, Shyam served as Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director at AMPIN Energy Transition (formerly Amp Energy India), where he was the founding finance leader and established the company’s finance architecture from inception. He led the structuring of holding and SPV frameworks, raised more than ₹3,000 crore in project and corporate financing, managed investor due diligence with leading global institutional investors, and built institutional-grade governance and reporting systems.
Before that, he was Head of Finance at Azure Power, where he was a core finance leader during the company’s NYSE initial public offering (IPO). He led US GAAP conversion, SOX compliance, SAP implementation, and financing initiatives exceeding ₹2,000 crore, while supporting the company’s rapid expansion.
His earlier leadership experience includes serving as Head of Finance and Administration at Sembcorp Green Infra Limited, where he helped build the renewable energy platform from inception and oversaw governance across multiple special purpose vehicles. He also held senior finance leadership positions at Bilfinger Berger Constructions (India) Private Limited, Hatch Associates India Pvt. Ltd., and SHARP India, leading finance, taxation, compliance, governance, and corporate functions.
