BitGo Launches Global Markets for Institutions

Deutsche Borse-LSE Merger in Focus

A full-service institutional markets offering, backed by an experienced capital markets team and BitGo’s digital asset infrastructure

BitGo Holdings, Inc., the digital asset infrastructure company, announced the launch of BitGo Global Markets, its institutional trading and financial solutions business bringing together global liquidity, execution, financing, derivatives, and settlement capabilities.

Global Markets combines BitGo’s established institutional trading business and Prime Services offering with expanded derivatives, collateral management, and structured finance expertise. Supported by BitGo’s digital asset infrastructure, the business serves institutions seeking to trade at scale, access capital, and take a more deliberate approach to managing their digital asset exposure.

The launch follows BitGo’s acquisition of NYDIG’s institutional and trading business, which added a team of experienced capital markets professionals across derivatives, financing, collateral servicing, and structured products. The team brings the structuring and risk management discipline of traditional markets to digital assets, expanding the services available to BitGo’s institutional clients. Pete Janney, who joins BitGo from NYDIG with extensive experience in trading and capital markets, has been appointed Head of Global Markets to lead the expanded business.

“BitGo has built a strong foundation across custody, liquidity, trading, financing, and settlement,” said Mike Belshe, CEO and Co-founder of BitGo. “Global Markets brings these capabilities together with deeper capital markets expertise, allowing us to support more complex institutional strategies and serve a broader range of our clients’ financial needs. Pete understands how institutions trade and manage risk, and I’m excited to have him leading Global Markets.”

BitGo Global Markets encompasses:

  • Institutional Execution: Spot and over-the-counter block trading, supported by BitGo’s Global Liquidity Layer, connecting clients to deep liquidity across exchanges, market makers, and OTC counterparties.
  • Prime Financing: Financing against digital asset collateral to fund trading positions, manage liquidity, and unlock the value of long-term holdings without selling.
  • Collateral Management: Margin monitoring, collateral calls, and liquidation management for institutions lending or borrowing against digital assets, with collateral held in qualified custody.
  • Derivatives and Structured Solutions: Options, swaps, and bespoke structures for eligible counterparties to hedge exposure, express market views, and manage portfolio risk.
  • Asset Management: Managed strategies, private funds, and tailored investment solutions for institutional investors seeking exposure to digital assets.
  • Research: Institutional research and market analysis providing clients with data-driven insight on the digital asset markets and emerging trends across the industry.

These services are supported by BitGo’s digital asset infrastructure, including qualified custody, trading connectivity, and Go Network clearing and settlement capabilities.

“Clients who own digital assets need sophisticated solutions that go beyond buy and hold,” said Pete Janney, Head of Global Markets at BitGo. “We work with clients to understand their goals, whether that is putting idle assets to work, hedging exposure, or accessing liquidity without selling, and execute solutions designed to help them manage risk and pursue those objectives. I look forward to accelerating that work and growing the Global Markets franchise at BitGo.”

With Global Markets, BitGo is expanding its role from providing the infrastructure behind institutional digital asset activity to delivering a broader suite of financial services across the full trade lifecycle. Dedicated coverage teams work with clients across trading, financing, and risk management needs, helping institutions access the capabilities they need to navigate digital asset markets.
