ROLEX. A HIGHLY RARE, UNUSUAL, AND ATTRACTIVE 18K YELLOW GOLD AUTOMATIC WRISTWATCH WITH DIAMOND FOSSIL DIAL, DAY-DATE ‘JURASSIC PARK’ MODEL, REF. 18238, CASE NO. E779213, CIRCA 1990

The Reference 18238 ‘Jurassic Park’
Produced from approximately 1988 to 2000, the Rolex Day-Date reference 18238 represents the second generation of the five-digit Day-Date series and is celebrated for introducing the upgraded caliber 3155 with the highly practical double quick-set function, allowing both the day and date to be adjusted independently via the crown. Crafted in 18k yellow gold and fitted with the iconic President bracelet, the reference remains one of Rolex’s quintessential flagship models.

The present example is particularly rare and captivating, distinguished by its extraordinary fossilized stone dial—often nicknamed the “Jurassic Park” dial by collectors for its dramatic prehistoric patterns and organic texture—further enhanced by diamond hour markers. With each dial naturally unique, no two examples are alike, making this an especially cool, visually striking, and highly collectible expression of the classic Day-Date.
