A decade-plus after its original release, Superheaven have officially reached a major milestone with “Youngest Daughter,” as the fan-favorite track has now been certified platinum in the United States.
The RIAA officially awarded the certification on August 25, recognizing one million certified units for the song. The milestone comes roughly a year and a half after “Youngest Daughter” was certified gold in February 2025.
Originally released in 2013, “Youngest Daughter” appeared on Superheaven’s debut album ‘Jar’. Although the song initially came out more than a decade ago, it found a new audience in recent years thanks in part to its resurgence across TikTok and other social media platforms.
That renewed interest arrived after Superheaven returned from hiatus in 2022, helping introduce the band’s early material to a new generation of listeners in the process.
The platinum certification marks another significant chapter for a song that has experienced a considerable second life long after its initial release.
For the purposes of RIAA certifications, a platinum single or album represents 1 million units, while gold represents 500,000 units. Those totals can be accumulated through a combination of traditional sales and streaming activity.
Under the current certification system, 10 permanent track downloads count as one unit, while 1,500 on-demand audio or video streams from an album equate to one album unit. For individual songs, 150 streams count toward one track-equivalent unit.
With “Youngest Daughter” now officially platinum, the track has become one of Superheaven’s biggest commercial achievements — a fitting milestone for a song that managed to find an entirely new audience more than ten years after it first arrived.
