PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners have a new freebie to claim, regardless of whether you have PlayStation Plus or not.
Everyone loves a freebie and while Steam regularly hands them out to gamers, they’re exceptionally rare on other platforms.
PlayStation rarely gives anything away for free. It even locks video game demos behind the most-expensive tier of PlayStation Plus. Some subscribers are paying top-dollar to trial a game they don’t have access to. Madness.
However, every now and then an honest-to-God freebie materialises and this week, we’d like to draw your attention to a restaurant management game called Buffet Boss.
It’s one for the Overcooked fans as it involves you building, owning and serving in your very own buffet restaurant, with plenty of hungry customers to feed.
The game’s synopsis reads: “Start as a humble entrepreneur and rise through the ranks to become the ultimate chef, bartender, and manager.
“As your restaurant grows, so do the challenges. Keep your customers happy, manage overcrowded dining rooms, and make sure your team is always at their best. The more successful you become, the more obstacles you’ll face, but with the right strategy, you’ll dominate the industry!”
You’ll scamper around, putting meals and drinks together and delivering them to your paying customers. As you earn more money you’ll be able to buy new stations to bolster your menu, and hire staff to help you with your endeavours.

It was released on the PlayStation 4 earlier this year, on June 18, but it’s also compatible with the PlayStation 5. It’s free-to-play on both platforms and currently holds a four-star rating following over 2,000 reviews.
Many of those reviews have been favourable, but of course it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s seen a few comparisons to mobile games given its simplistic art style and premise.
However, for those who do end up giving it a go and end up liking it, you can expand your game with the ‘Complete Edition.’ This adds the Buffet Boss: Rolling Sushi, Buffet Boss: Busy Bakery and Buffet Boss: Mamas Mexican DLC packs. This usually costs $7.99/£6.49 but with a PlayStation Plus subscription, it’s discounted to $3.99/£3.24.

Another reason why Buffet Boss has become so popular is because it’s great for trophy hunters.
Those Platinums mean a lot to so many PlayStation fans so any game that’ll net you one for minimal effort is gladly accepted.
A grand total of 22 trophies (including the Platinum) are available. That may sound like a lot, but they’re all easy to get as they’re unlocked through normal gameplay.
Players have reported that it took them as little as an hour to unlock everything, making this a must-play if you’re serious about that trophy collection.
There’s no rush on this as it looks like it’ll be free-to-play for a while, but given its short playtime you might as well give it a try if you’ve got a spare afternoon or evening.
