Reuters reported on September 12 that Mexican authorities found the covert mining site in Puebla state and are investigating whether it was linked to a criminal organization. They are also examining whether the facility was used to launder illicit funds.
Authorities found about 300 graphics processing units, or GPUs, and large-scale power supply equipment at the site.
Mexican criminal groups have recently been expanding into crimes involving digital assets, the report said.
