- Lady Mayor of the City of London to visit Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore, building bridges with strategically important ASEAN markets to deepen the UK’s financial and professional services relationships.
- Unlocking opportunities to mobilise capital for infrastructure, technology and sustainable growth – encouraging two-way trade and investment.
- Promote InvestConnect, a new AI-enabled platform is set to launch soon that will connect investors with infrastructure opportunities across the UK.
As the global ambassador for UK financial and professional services, the Lady Mayor will look to deepen the UK’s relationships with three strategically important ASEAN markets.
The visit will position London and the UK as a long-term partner for capital mobilisation, international financial-centre development, sustainable infrastructure, transition finance and risk management. It will also promote the UK as a destination for ASEAN investment, helping UK businesses identify commercial opportunities and address barriers to growth across the region.
- Mobilising two-way investment: building relationships with institutional investors, asset managers, banks, and family offices to unlock two-way investment in sustainable infrastructure, technology and private markets in the UK and across the ASEAN region.
- Sharing UK financial expertise: promoting London’s strengths in capital markets, English common law, insurance, professional services, innovation, green finance and international financial-centre development in Vietnam.
- Supporting business growth: creating commercial opportunities for UK firms in ASEAN while promoting the UK as a destination for financial services FDI, capital raising and capital deployment. Additionally, meeting with regulators to strengthen collaboration, promote regulatory interoperability, and reduce market barriers that serve to limit cross-border investment and capital flows.
The Lady Mayor will also promote InvestConnect, a new investor-led and AI-enabled platform being developed in partnership with the City of London Corporation. The platform will connect professional investors with curated infrastructure and real-asset opportunities across the UK, with investors representing more than US$3 trillion in assets under management already engaged in its development.
Lady Mayor of the City of London, Susan Langley, said:
“ASEAN is home to some of the world’s most dynamic and ambitious economies, and there is enormous potential to deepen the UK’s partnerships across the region.
“London offers deep capital markets, trusted legal and regulatory expertise, speciality insurance experience and a world-leading financial and professional services ecosystem. From mobilising investment and financing sustainable infrastructure to managing emerging risks and supporting the development of international financial centres, we have a great deal to offer.
“This visit is about turning that expertise into practical partnerships, creating new opportunities for businesses and investors in both directions, and demonstrating that London remains open, connected and ready to support ASEAN’s long-term growth.”
Emma Loynes, CEO of Lloyd’s Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region said:
“We are honoured to support the Lady Mayor’s visit to ASEAN and welcome the continued strengthening of the UK–ASEAN partnership.
“Lloyd’s has a long-standing commitment to ASEAN, and we are proud to support businesses across the region with the expertise, risk solutions and global capital that help them grow and build resilience.”
