The Business Tax Portal is for filing and paying specific business taxes. Use this portal to:
- File and pay for:
- Business License (BPOL)
- Meals Tax
- Transient Occupancy Tax
- File only:
- Business Tangible Personal Property (TP & CE)
How to Use the Business Tax Portal

Tax Portal (New for 2025)

Use the Tax Portal to pay for any of the following:
- Business Personal Property (Vehicle)
- Business Tangible Personal Property (TP & CE)
- Business License (BPOL)
- Meals Tax
- Transient Occupancy Tax
Setting Up a Tax Portal Account and Watchlist
- All users must create an account to access the Tax Portal
- After logging in, you must set up a watchlist to manage your account and make payments.
- For detailed steps on how to create an account and set up a watchlist, please reference the Tax Portal instructions(PDF, 1MB).
Payment Options in Tax Portal
- eCheck: Free, secure, and processed directly from your bank account.
- Credit Cards: Accepted (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover) with a convenience fee.
- PayPal: Includes PayPal Credit; convenience fee applies.

- Located on Armstrong Street in front of City Hall near the flagpoles.
- Checked twice a day (three times a day near due dates).
- Checks or money orders only.
Pay over the Phone
- The City of Fairfax partners with PayGov for phone payments.
- Call 703-385-7900, option #5, between 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Have your account number and payment amount ready.
- Not available if your account has been forwarded to TACS (call 1-866-951-0742 for TACS).

Debit and Forget It
- Real estate only
- Pre-payment ACH (Debit) option.
- You can set payments based on your schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually).
- No charge for this method.
- Not available through the online portal links.
